🤔 The Why

Am I just trying to make my subscribers do funky, borderline crazy, and definitely socially uncomfortable things? Well, on the one hand - yes, that is part of the allure - but the much more important part is that this is actually very beneficial both to your body and your mind.

On the physical plane - it activates relatively unused muscles, is good for your knees, and improves your walking and running technique.

When it comes to your mind - it helps you to be more confident, to understand your body better, and will most likely improve your mood.

🧐 The How - Full Version

Put on your favorite pair of walking pants, grab your headphones (and a favorite audiobook, or alternatively go without them so as to be fully present), and go out for a walk.

My recommendation is to go for at least 30 minutes per day. If you want an extra challenge - try running.

🐨 Lazy Mode

Instead of doing a dedicated 30-minute walk, just walk backward once in a while, on your normal daily commute.

In addition to the aforementioned benefits, it also helps you to work on your mindset. One beautiful part about changing things up is the fact that you will be breaking routine, and whenever one does - you tend to become more present, vibrant, and alive.

If you like science, then backward walking has also been shown to reduce anterior knee pain, may improve cardiorespiratory fitness as well as body composition (Journal of Biomechanics and International Journal of Sports Medicine).

💸 Professional Application

Many businesses die, because they stop experimenting and because they refuse to do things that are “crazy”. Therefore, this #weeklyaction is a reminder to think outside of the box and to do something new and exciting to change up your business routine:

  • Have a meeting in a new and totally unexpected location.

  • Have the most junior member, be the CEO for a week.

  • Have everyone in the office walk backward for a day.
